A narcotics smuggling attempt was disrupted

On the afternoon of June 26, 2020 federal agents with the U.S. Border Patrol received a report of a blue crew cab pickup truck possibly involved in illicit activity at a local ranch in Laredo, Texas.

Agents responded to the area and encountered the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Agents attempted to stop the pickup truck, but the driver failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. The driver continued toward the World Trade Bridge where he bailed from the pickup truck and absconded into Mexico.

Upon inspecting the abandoned vehicle, agents discovered four bundles of marijuana weighing approximately 298.7 lbs. with a value of $238,960. The narcotics were ultimately turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
