32-year-old Trenton Butler was arrested on May 23, 2022 charged with 2nd degree murder. Trenton is accused of selling fentanyl to 26-year-old Javier Sanchez-Ramirez in Monroe, NC. Javier later died from a drug overdose.
Trenton allegedly sold fentanyl drugs to Javier in March of 2022. Javier died from a fentanyl overdose on the same day that he got the drugs. Police identified Trenton as the source of the drug supply.
In May 2022 detectives executed a search warrant at Trenton’s residence. During the search of the home, detectives located and seized over 800 illicitly pressed pills containing the deadly narcotic fentanyl, arrest warrants say.

Detectives say they also located and seized numerous firearms. Trenton is charged with second degree murder, death by distribution, firearm by felon, and trafficking in opium heroin.
