New video shows the moments a black man was shot and killed by police at a Walmart in Charlotte NC. Derrell Raney is identified as the dead victim. The shooting was on November 5, 2021.


Derrell was shot in the head.

At 6:00 a.m. on November 5th officers responded to Winding Cedar Trail in Charlotte. Derrell allegedly called police and said he found two dead bodies behind the apartments at the location.

However, officers searched the area and found no evidence of dead bodies. A crisis intervention team responded and urged Darrell to be evaluated at the hospital but he refused any kind of treatment. Officers then left.

Several hours later on the same day at 5:30 p.m. officers responded to the Walmart on 9101 Albemarle Road regarding a man identified as Derrell Raney that pointed a gun at a security guard within Walmart.

The security guard pointed cops in the direction of Derrell who was seated in the grass with a backpack in front of him and his right hand concealed inside the backpack.

Both officers gave verbal commands for Derrell to show his hands. Cops say Derrell began to raise the gun up in the direction of the officers. Officer Edmunds and Officer Longworth shot Derrell several times, even after he was already down.

Paramedics arrived and transported Derrell to the hospital but he died at 6:30 p.m. on November 5th.
