19-year-old Omari Alexander was murdered in a shooting on Saturday November 20, 2021 in Hickory, NC. On November 24, 2021 Quavius Izard, 21, was arrested and charged with Omari's murder. Hailee Melanson, 20, is charged with felony accessory after the fact to murder. Omari played football at Lenoir-Rhyne University.

On November 20, 2021 Hickory police officers responded to apartments in Hickory regarding a shots fired call. Upon arrival, officers located a black 2015 Chevrolet Camaro with the engine running in the parking lot of the apartment complex.

Officers approached the vehicle and observed an unresponsive 19-year-old black male, later identified as Omari Alexander sitting in the driver’s seat of the vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers attempted to provide medical aid to the victim until emergency medical service arrived on scene. Upon arrival, paramedics evaluated Omari and pronounced him deceased at the scene.

On November 22, 2021 Hailee was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to murder regarding the shooting death of Omari. 

Quavius was found hiding on a property in Collettsville, NC on November 24, 2021. Quavius is charged with first degree murder and is being held without bond in the Catawba County Jail.

Omari was a sophomore on the Lenoir-Rhyne University football team. Omari played high school football at Mallard Creek in Charlotte, NC.
