The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation confirmed that 2 jail escapees died on February 6, 2022 after a pursuit in Brunswick County, NC. Tobias Carr, 38, and Timothy Sarver, 45, were killed after they wrecked a truck during a high speed chase. Tobias and Timothy both had escaped from a Tennessee jail.

On February 4, 2022 Tobias and Timothy escaped from the Sullivan County Jail in Blountville, Tennessee. The inmates were able to crawl through the HVAC air vent system inside the jail.  

The inmates were then able to escape. Some how the suspects were able to get a Chevrolet Silverado truck and drive to Wilmington, NC. The suspects robbed a convenience store in North Carolina while on the run.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the United States Marshals Service were searching for the inmates.

The suspect truck was spotted in North Carolina and a multi jurisdictional pursuit began. The truck became disabled and crashed. Both Tobias and Timothy died in the crash.

Tobias was in jail on charges of second degree murder. Timothy was jailed on charges of auto theft, identity theft, drug paraphernalia, and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
