3 LATINO MEN KILLED IN UPTOWN CHARLOTTE SKYSCRAPER CONSTRUCTION ACCIDENT

The 3 men fell to their deaths at an 8 story drop, the scaffold collapsed

Jesus Olivares, Gilberto Monico Fernández, and 26-year-old Jose Bonilla Canaca were all killed on an apartment construction site in Charlotte, NC on January 2, 2023. The victims were working at a construction site on East Morehead Street.

Jesus, Gilberto, and Jose were on a scaffold 8 stories high, at an estimated height of 70 feet. The men were working on an apartment construction site.

Suddenly the scaffold collapsed while the men were on it. The scaffold then dropped down to the ground from high up. The victims screamed as they fell, but they had nothing to grab onto.

2 more construction workers were hurt and taken to the hospital, but those 2 survived.

Jesus had a few children. Gilberto was from Mexico, he was set to retire soon.

OSHA and the NC Department of Labor will evaluate the construction site, and there will likely be violations, penalties, and fines.
