From traffic fatalities to house party shootings 5 people are now dead.
On August 30, 2019 around 10 pm a wreck on Wilkinson Boulevard Charlotte, NC occurred involving a motorcycle and a car. Upon arrival, officers located four unresponsive victims as well as two additional victims who both had minor injuries. Paramedics arrived and pronounced the four unresponsive victims deceased at the scene. The other two individuals were transported to Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center.
The dead victims from the wreck are David Wooten, 22, Benjamin Vasquez, 24, Claudia Gray, 27, and Hanna Brotherton, 22.
A Hyundai Elantra had been traveling on Wilkinson Boulevard and was conducting a U-Turn at Fairhaven Street. While executing the turn, the Hyundai was struck in the right rear door area by a 2016 Yamaha motorcycle driven by David. The Yamaha had been traveling west on Wilkinson Boulevard in the left lane at a high rate of speed.
David was pronounced deceased at the scene. He had been wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Excessive speed is considered to be a contributing factor in this crash for David. It is currently unknown if he was impaired; tests results are pending.
The driver of the Hyundai and the right front passenger both received minor injuries from the crash and were transported to the hospital. All three passengers who had been seated in the backseat of the Hyundai were pronounced deceased at the scene. The back passengers were Benjamin, Claudia, and Hanna.
UNCC FEMALE STUDENTS SHOT, MAN DEAD
The man was killed at apartments on Rebecca Bailey Drive just after midnight on August 31, 2019. One adult male victim was found shot in front of the apartment and two additional female victims that had been shot were located behind the apartment.
A party was taking place at the apartment. Multiple people were standing in front of the apartment when an argument took place. Shortly afterwards, the shooting occurred and four individuals were struck.
All three of these victims were transported by paramedics to Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center, where one of the victims was later pronounced deceased.
A fourth male victim was transported by unknown individuals to Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center -University, that victim is being treated for a life threatening gunshot wound to his chest.
The two female victims, both of which have non-life threatening injuries, are enrolled at UNCC.
