
AMAZON EMPLOYEE ADMITS TO STEALING OVER $273,000 FROM COMPANY
Douglas Wright, 27, was an Amazon employee in Charlotte, NC. On January 28, 2022 Douglas pleaded guilty to mail fraud, for stealing merchandise from Amazon worth over $273,000. Jeff Bezos is the owner of Amazon and he makes billions of dollars a month. So Douglas stole from the richest man in the world.
According to plea documents and court hearings, from June 2020 to September 2021, Douglas executed a scheme to defraud Amazon by stealing merchandise worth over $273,000 from the company’s warehouse in Charlotte, NC.
Over the course of the scheme, Douglas was employed as an operation’s manager at Amazon’s warehouse in Charlotte. Douglas misused his access to Amazon's computers to target certain merchandise, particularly expensive computer parts such as internal hard drives, processors, and graphic processing units, and shipped those items from the warehouse to his home address.

Douglas admitted in court that he then sold the stolen merchandise for profit to a computer wholesale company in California. Amazon became aware of the situation and contacted police. Douglas was arrested on September 8, 2021.
Douglas pleaded guilty to mail fraud, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. A sentencing date has not been set yet.
