
BLACK WOMAN DIES AT CHARLOTTE JAIL
31-year-old Francine Laney died on March 2, 2022 at the Mecklenburg County Jail on East Fourth Street Charlotte, NC. Another inmate committed suicide in the jail by hanging himself in his cell.
On March 3rd Francine was found unresponsive in her jail cell at the detention center infirmary at 6:20 p.m.
Medical personnel arrived and began administering CPR. First responders continued CPR, connected an IV and administered an automatic external defibrillator to Francine.
However, the inmate was pronounced deceased in less than 40 minutes.
The State Bureau of Investigation is handling the case.
Francine was arrested on January 29, 2022 on multiple charges, including resisting a public officer, assault on a government official, malicious conduct by a prisoner and assault with a deadly weapon, trespass, and breaking/entering.
