CALIFORNIA POLICE BUST WOMEN IN PROSTITUTION STING

Authorities arrested several people in an undercover sex operation in connection with an investigation into human trafficking and prostitution in Merced, California.

Merced police participated in a statewide operation targeting human trafficking and prostitution called “Reclaim and Rebuild” from Jan. 24 to Jan. 26.

The Merced Police Department DART Team along with GVSU officers conducted undercover operations responding to and posting online advertisements on known commercial sex websites.

When officers were contacted through numbers posted online, they negotiated sex acts for money and arrested suspects who arrived at designated hotels to engage in acts of prostitution.

The women were arrested on suspicion of solicitation of prostitution. The women were handcuffed and took their mugshot on the hotel room bed.
