On December 17, 2019 The Charley's Philly Steaks location at Northlake Mall in Charlotte, NC received an 88.50 score during a health inspection.
A live cockroach moved across the floor in the kitchen area during the inspection. There were 3 spatulas that were stored clean, but were really soiled and dirty. The manager was ordered to take the spatulas to be washed/rinsed/sanitized.
There was no certified food protection manager on site during the inspection at Charley's Philly Steaks.
The inspector observed 6 cheeses and chicken that were left in the prep unit overnight. Some of the cheeses were kept at unsafe temperatures above 41F. The manager voluntarily discarded the cheeses above 41F.
There were tomatoes, ham, turkey, and lettuce that were all made the previous night on the prep line with no date mark at Charley's Philly Steaks. The manager and a food employee had long fingernails.
The inspection noted that all kitchen equipment was in need of cleaning such as: shelves, counter tops, cervices, top of ovens, rollers on bread oven, prep unit metal bars, doors and inside WIC shelves. The whole kitchen was also in need of cleaning.
Floors, walls, and ceilings inside of Charley's Philly Steaks were in need of cleaning.
Right in front of the inspector two employees sat phones down on prep counters. The inspector ordered that the food employees remove the phones and had the area cleaned.
