A shooting on Black Friday November 26, 2021 erupted at South Point Mall in Durham, NC. 3 people were shot. Among the shot was a 10-year-old child. 

The Durham Police Department is investigating a shooting incident at The Streets at Southpoint Mall. An altercation between a large group of people transpired, things escalated to a violent shooting. Shots were fired and 3 people were shot, including a 10-year-old child. Another 3 people were injured during a stampede of frightened people at the mall, chairs were flipped over and on the floor. 

The gun shots were very loud and threatening. 

The mall was placed on lockdown moments after the shooting. People were seen locked in stores due to the lockdown.

Eventually, the lockdown was lifted and the mall was evacuated. The mall will be closed while authorities investigate the shooting. 

Motorists are advised to avoid the area. There is no further threat at the mall. At the moment, one suspect is in custody. The other suspects ran and have not been arrested.
