DOUBLE MURDER, MOTHER AND HER SON FOUND DEAD BEHIND APARTMENT
A mother and her son were both shot to death
48-year-old Julie Camacho Smith and her son Desmond Brewington, 25, were shot and killed on May 18, 2022 in Hope Mills, NC. Rodney McCrary, 68, is accused of murdering Julie and Desmond.

Julie and Desmond were found shot dead behind their apartment in the 6200 block of Hackberry Drive on the morning of May 18, 2022.

Rodney also resides at the apartments on Hackberry Drive. On May 21, 2022 Rodney was charged with two counts each of first degree murder, first degree kidnapping, and concealing or failure to report a death.
Rodney was arrested without bond.
