Diamond Rodriguez, 31, is one for the record books. Diamond was drunk when she called police twice and then spit on several officers in Charlotte, NC.
Now Diamond is off to prison after pleading guilty to her conduct.
In October 2017, police were dispatched to an apartment complex after receiving a 911 call. When officers arrived, they could not locate the caller. Dispatchers called the number back and reached Diamond, who became belligerent and indicated she would harm officers.
Hours later, officers received another 911 call from Diamond. Possibly annoyed and agitated, officers responded to the apartment complex again and then encountered Diamond when they saw her walking around their patrol car and spitting on its windows.
Diamond was intoxicated and told officers she’d been assaulted. The officers attempted to investigate the alleged assault, however, Diamond once again became belligerent and uncooperative. While the officers were on the scene, a woman approached them and told them that Diamond had assaulted her.
While the officers attempted to speak with this woman, Diamond repeatedly ignored commands for her to stand back and away from the woman. Officers then took Diamond into custody. Diamond became combative, kicking and slapping the officers.
She then spit on three officers, which is the basis for the charge of malicious conduct by a prisoner.
Diamond had trial this week and pled guilty to three counts of malicious conduct by a prisoner. She also admitted to a probation violation for a prior offense. Diamond was sentenced to 17-30 months in prison, which is to be served concurrently with a 21-35 month sentence for the probation violation.
