44-year-old Chantelle Patterson was killed in a major vehicle collision on August 21, 2021 on North Tryon Street Charlotte, NC. Chantelle was a mother, she also had grandchildren.

29-year-old Laregis McCoy was arrested and charged with felony death by motor vehicle, involving the fatal crash that killed Chantelle.
Authorities say Laregis was fleeing from a hit and run crash location at a high rate of speed when he failed to stop at a red light at the North Tryon intersection with Matheson Ave.
The speeding vehicle struck a Lexus vehicle on the passenger's side. The Lexus had a green light and the right-of-way. The driver of the Lexus was rushed to Atrium Health Main Hospital with serious injuries. This was allegedly the second collision for Laregis in one night. Laregis sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital.
After Laregis was released from the hospital, he was charged with felony death by motor vehicle, felony serious injury, and aggressive driving.
