FORMER NFL PLAYER KILLS 5 PEOPLE IN SOUTH CAROLINA AND THEN COMMITS SUICIDE
Phillip Adams played 5 years in the NFL for several different teams. Phillip was armed with a .45 caliber gun when he shot and killed 5 people on April 7, 2021 in York County, South Carolina. Phillip then ran to a nearby home and killed himself via a self inflicted gunshot. Phillip went to a prominent doctors home and opened fire on 5 people, killing them.
Among the 5 that Phillip killed was Dr. Robert Lesslie, 70, and his wife of 35 years Barbara Lesslie, 69, along with their 2 grandchildren Adah Lesslie, 9, and Noah Lesslie, 5. James Lewis was working at the home and was also killed by Phillip. A 6th person at the home was also shot by Phillip, but that victim survived with serious injuries.
Phillip's parents lived near the doctor’s home. Phillip had even been treated by the doctor. Although there is no motive as to why Phillip committed these heinous crimes. However, Phillip did suffer several concussions in the NFL, so his mental state may of played a factor.
Phillip entered the doctor's home and shot dead all 5 people. He then ran to a nearby home, where he shot and killed himself. Authorities searched for hours to find him, and he was eventually found several hours after the shootings.
Phillip played as a defensive back for multiple NFL teams from 2010-2015. In college he played at South Carolina State.
Dr. Lesslie worked at Riverview Medical Center. Dr. Lesslie has been practicing medicine in South Carolina since 1981, according to his website. He received his degree at the Medical University of South Carolina and has worked in the surrounding Rock Hill area and in Charlotte.
