Brandon Coakley, 32, was sentenced to life in prison on October 29, 2020 for sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl at a motel in Georgetown, South Carolina.

Brandon agreed to a plea deal and received a life sentence for first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a child, as well as 3 years on a domestic violence charge.

Police first learned of the incident in November 2018, when the child’s mother discovered a recording on Brandon’s phone that showed him sexually assaulting the 6-year-old girl. Brandon then physically assaulted the girl's mother when she told him what she had found.

The mother took her children with her as she fled the scene with Brandon’s phone and reported the incident. Brandon was eventually arrested. As it turned out, Brandon had sexually assaulted the child while her mother was at work. Brandon and the mother were involved in a relationship.
