Valentin Martinez, 45, of the Los Angeles Police Department has died from complications due to COVID-19, marking the agency's second Coronavirus-related death. Valentin caught the Coronavirus while on the job and died on July 24, 2020.

453 employees with the LAPD have tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic began. Valentin worked as a patrol officer with the department's Mission division, he joined the LAPD in 2007. The flags were lowered to half-staff at the Mission Hills police station in honor of Martinez.

Valentin is survived by his girlfriend, who is 20 weeks pregnant with his twins.
