Michael Adams, 33, is now dead after a dirt bike accident in Charlotte, NC.

On Sunday, August 11, 2019, numerous 911 calls were received from the community reporting multiple dirt bikes and ATV’s driving recklessly on the streets of the City of Charlotte.

At approximately 7:57 p.m., officers responded to a report of an hit and run accident in the parking lot of the Bojangles, located at 300 West Boulevard involving dirt bikes and ATV’s. A female victim advised the riders surrounded her vehicle and struck her vehicle, causing property damage.

The victim was also physically assaulted at the scene. A short time later, an officer on a dual sport bike located a group of the ATV and dirt bikes traveling on West Boulevard and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Emergency officials say one of the dirt bikes driven by Michael ran off of the right side of the roadway and crashed at West Boulevard and I-77.

The riders of the other dirt bikes and ATV’s did not remain on scene.

Medic and other responders were dispatched to the scene in reference to the single vehicle crash, involving the dirt bike. The dirt bike was on the right shoulder of the road and Michael was in the roadway with life-threatening injuries.

When medics arrived they transported Michael to Atrium Health Carolina’s Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.

Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit and Crime Scene Search responded to conduct the investigation. Officials say the roadway evidence shows the dirt bike driven by Michael ran off the road to the right, made contact with the curb and struck a concrete pillar.

There is allegedly no evidence that any contact was made between the CMPD dual sport bike and any other bikes or ATV’s.

Michael was allegedly not wearing a DOT approved helmet. Speed does not appear to be a factor in this case. It is not known if alcohol or impairment is a factor in this crash.
