A few minutes later officers responded to the Captain D’s at 123 Eastway Drive in response to a 911 call stating that a female was inside the restaurant and had been kidnapped. When the officers arrived, they located the victim and Patrick. He was arrested on scene.

The 17-year-old victim had known the Patrick for less than one week; and after a few days Patrick indicated to the victim that she had to work as a prostitute to earn him money. When she refused she was periodically threatened and assaulted by Patrick.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

While being transported to the Mecklenburg County Jail Patrick was able to maneuver his handcuffed hands to the front of his body and assault the officer driving. Additional officers responded and were attempting to secure him again when he spit on two of them and kicked the patrol car door, damaging it.

Patrick was quickly restrained and officers were once again able to handcuff him behind his back and apply other restraining methods.
