MAN SHOOTS GUN AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Police have arrested Devontrez Moore, 25, (Seen here) for shooting at Lawrence Orr Elementary school on Monday morning.

Information and evidence gathered during the course of this investigation led detectives in identifying Moore as the suspect in the shooting that occurred in the 4800 block of Shamrock Drive yesterday morning.

On Monday, September 24, 2018 at 9:04 a.m., officers responded to a shots fired call. A victim stated that her vehicle was hit by a grey car and there was a male that was shooting at the grey vehicle.

The initial investigation revealed that Devontrez exited a vehicle that was in the school parking lot and began walking towards Shamrock Drive when he began shooting at a grey vehicle that was leaving the school. The grey vehicle collided with a vehicle that was stopped at the stop sign waiting to make a right turn onto Shamrock Drive. The grey vehicle fled the scene.

The shooter Devontrez ran from the scene and was unable to be located by a K9 Unit. No children or bystanders were injured during this shooting.

A short time later, the driver of the grey vehicle called 911 to report the shooting. Devontrez knew the driver of the grey vehicle and this was not a random act of violence.

Earlier this morning, probation and parole officers located Devontrez and arrested him.

Devontrez has been charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds and Discharging a Weapon on School Grounds.
