SUSPECT ARRESTED IN DOUBLE MURDER OF FATHER AND BABY SON
A man is accused of murdering a baby and the young father in a Memorial Day weekend shooting
Tahjii Katrell Salves Bennett, 21, was arrested in August 2022 charged with the double murder of 25-year-old Darion McClendon and his 4-month-old son Da’mari McClendon in Monroe, NC.

Darion and baby Da'mari were shot and killed during Memorial Day weekend on May 29, 2022.
The father and son were shot at a home on Morrow Avenue. A vehicle approached in a drive-by shooting and shot several times. Both Darion and Da'mari were shot, they died at the scene.

Tahjii is now facing two first degree murder charges, along with possession of a firearm, and discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling.
Tahjii is being held with no bail.
