Christopher Chisholm, 24, is charged with the murder of Robert Michael Hopkins, 56. The victim was killed on December 20, 2019 during a theft attempt by a suspect.

On December 20, 2019 Robert, who was an employee at a Steele Creek shopping center in Charlotte, NC was intentionally struck and killed by a car.

Robert was walking back to his car when he saw someone breaking into vehicles. He tried to stop the thief, and there was a confrontation in the parking lot near South Tryon Street and Ayrsley Town Boulevard.

That was when the thief hit Robert with a car.

On December 22, 2019 officers located the suspect vehicle in this homicide. The officers attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle but the driver refused to stop. A pursuit took place which ended on Park Fairfax Drive when all three occupants ran from the vehicle.

A short time later, Christopher Chisholm and the second occupant were both apprehended.

The third occupant of the vehicle, an unidentified female, was not located. In addition to other suspected stolen items, a total of four firearms were seized from inside the suspect vehicle.

Christopher was charged with both Murder and Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle.

Christopher Chisholm cut off his court ordered electronic monitor on November 18, 2019. He had been placed on electronic monitoring on November 6, 2019, as a part of his pre-trial release after being charged with 28 counts of Felony Conspiracy, 1 count of Breaking and Entering into a Motor Vehicle, and 1 count of Felony Larceny.

In addition to the 2 charges mentioned above connected to this homicide, when Chisholm was booked at the Mecklenburg County Jail early this morning he was served with 48 additional property and drug related warrants for his arrest.
