Jailen Houston, 19, is accused of shooting 2 women during a shooting spree at an Orlando, Florida vacation resort on December 14, 2022.
Jailen is from Georgia, he came to Orlando to enroll in college. And during his time in Orlando Jailen decided to stay at the Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa. But management at the resort told Jailen that people below the age of 21 can't stay at the hotel alone.
Jailen got very angry and left the resort. At 10:40 p.m. Jailen came back to the Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa, allegedly armed with an AR-15 gun.
Jailen is accused of firing several shots at the hotel. A woman was shot.

The suspect then drove to Marriott’s Cypress Harbour Villas where he allegedly fired more shots, this time a female security guard was shot. Jailen is then accused of driving off and shooting at 2 apartment complexes and several cars in traffic, damage was done, but no one was shot in the apartment and traffic shootings.
Jailen drove away in his car and later crashed on Interstate 4 at 7 a.m. the next morning. An officer saw the wreck and stopped to see what happened. It was then that Jailen allegedly confessed to the mass shooting at the resorts.
The suspect was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder with a firearm. The 2 women that were shot were taken to the hospital with life threatening conditions.
Marriott released the following statement after the shootings:
Last night at Marriott’s Cypress Harbour Villas, one of our associates suffered injuries while working on the property. Details of the event are under investigation, and we are cooperating closely with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. The safety, security, and well-being of all our Owners, guests and associates is a top priority. Please direct any questions to law enforcement as this is an ongoing investigation.
