49-year-old Jerry McGlamery is the janitor at Appalachian State University that is facing charges after a cell phone was found in the women's bathroom at an all female residence hall. He was arrested on October 22, 2021. The university is in Boone, NC. Jerry had the official title of facilities operation employee.
The cell phone was reported to the university on October 15, 2021. The cell phone was aimed into a third-floor bathroom inside Eggers Residence Hall through an air vent.
Appalachian State University officials say they began investigating and the entire ventilation system within the building was inspected. Several days later, Jerry was arrested and charged with secret peeping.
Jerry is on investigatory leave pending the ongoing investigation. Appalachian State University has banned Jerry from campus.

A team of university representatives including staff from University Housing, police department, the university’s counseling center, and the Office of the Dean of Students met with resident assistants and residents of Eggers Hall to provide information about the incident and offer support and resources.
Upon seizing his mobile phone, police obtained an arrest warrant for Appalachian State Facilities Operations employee Jerry Alan McGlamery, 49, of Wilkes County, for secret peeping, a criminal offense under North Carolina General Statutes. McGlamery was taken into custody on Oct. 22.
