Daquan Code, 22, and Daluan Code, 22, are charged in the shooting of a 22-year-old female victim in the presence of her one-week-old infant.
The woman was shot at 1:10 a.m. on August 5, 2020 on Justice Avenue Charlotte, NC. Officers responded to claims of someone who had been shot. When officers arrived, they located an adult female injured from a shooting. Alongside the victim was her one-week-old infant, who was present at the time of the shooting which had occurred moments prior.
Officers quickly responded to the residence on Justice Avenue and were checking for any armed suspects and additional victims when they were allegedly met with physical resistance from Daquan and Daluan. Officers were able to de-escalate the resistance and took both suspects into custody without incident.
The preliminary investigation led detectives to seek and serve a search warrant on the residence, which allegedly resulted in the seizure of more than 130 ecstasy (MDMA) pills, more than 300 grams of marijuana, two pistols, money, and other drug paraphernalia.

Detectives concluded an altercation between the victim and another party became violent when Daquan and Daluan Code allegedly began to shoot at the victim as they chased her on foot. The victim was able to escape in her vehicle, notify police and receive medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries.
At the conclusion of their interview with detectives, Daquan and Daluan were both transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious injury and resist/delay/obstruct a law enforcement officer. Daluan was given the additional charges of trafficking MDMA, possession with the intent to sale/deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
