TWO PEOPLE KILLED IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS IN CHARLOTTE

Two people were killed in Charlotte, one victim was ran over by a thief, the other victim was shot and killed

William Johnston, 43, was shot and killed on Capricorn Lane Charlotte, NC on Dec. 21, 2019 at 6:30 a.m.

Dispatchers heard what appeared to be arguments and shots fired during the 911 call and dispatched officers to the scene. Officers responded and upon arrival, officers located William with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Less than 16 hours earlier on December 20, 2019 an employee at a Steele Creek shopping center in Charlotte was intentionally struck and killed by a car. The victim has been identified as Robert Hopkins, 56.

Robert was walking back to his car when he saw someone breaking into vehicles. He tried to stop the thief, and there was a confrontation in the parking lot near South Tryon Street and Ayrsley Town Boulevard.

That was when the thief hit Robert with a car.
