The toddlers were in the back seat of a minivan, not in car seats. The driver lost control and hit a palm tree around 9:15 p.m.
The van struck the curb of the road before the tires went up over the curb and into the landscaped buffer area separating the road from the walls of houses. The van hit a tree, a light pole, and then a large palm tree, heavily damaging the van.
Rose was decapitated and died at the scene. Taylor was taken to University Medical Center but later died.
Kaleah and Raenysa were hurt in the crash and taken to the hospital in critical condition. Both women have serious injuries.
Kaleah faces multiple charges including three counts of DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm or death and two counts of operating a vehicle without child safety restraints. Raenysa faces charges of child neglect/endangerment resulting in death.
