Danville Police Officer Andrew Hall shot and killed Tyrell Wilson, 32, on March 11, 2021. The video was released on April 21, 2021. The shooting was in Danville, California. Tyrell was homeless and suffered from schizophrenia. Tyrell was throwing rocks from the overpass down at motorists in their vehicles. 911 calls were made and Officer Hall approached Tyrell.
Tyrell pulls out a knife, and the officer pulls out his gun, all in the middle of a busy intersection. Officer Hall says that Tyrell was moving towards him with the knife, that is when the officer shoots and kills Tyrell. Blood can be seen coming out of Tyrell's body.
The video however appears to show that Tyrell was not advancing towards the officer enough for the use of deadly force. Tyrell was found with numerous rocks in his jacket pocket. Officer Hall was placed on administrative leave after the shooting.
