Virginia Tech football player Isimemen Etute, 18, was arrested on June 2, 2021 and charged with the murder of 40-year-old Jerry Smith in Blacksburg, Virginia. Isimemen plays linebacker for Virginia Tech, he is a freshman.
Look, college football players get in trouble all the time, but they usually don't get arrested on murder charges.
On June 01, 2021 the Blacksburg Police Department responded to a welfare check at at an apartment residence in Blacksburg. On scene officers located a deceased male identified as Jerry Smith. Investigators ruled the death of Jerry a homicide.
Jerry had blunt force trauma to his head.
Through the investigation, Isimemen was identified as a person of interest and later charged with 2nd degree murder. The investigation has revealed that Jerry and Isimemen were acquaintances.
Virginia Tech put Isimemen on interim suspension as a student. The Virginia Tech football team also suspended Isimemen from the team.
