WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER HIGH SPEED CRASH KILLS MAN, COPS ALLEGE SPEED RACING

Amy Linares, 20, was arrested on October 2, 2020 in a motor vehicular crash that killed Daniel Knapp, 21, in Charlotte, NC.
The crash was on October 1, 2020, at 10:40 p.m. on Parkton Road. Â
Officials say Amy and Daniel were traveling in separate vehicles involved in a speed race. The two vehicles were allegedly engaged in a willful speed competition. Officials say their speeds exceeded 80 miles per hour in a posted 25 mile-per-hour zone. Daniel lost control and ran off the roadway to the left, where he struck a tree. Â
Daniel died at the scene. Amy was transported to Novant Mint Hill hospital for precautionary reasons. Â
Amy was then arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter, willful speed competition, no operator’s license, no liability insurance, and fictitious registration.
