A woman was killed after being hit by a vehicle in the middle of the road

On Sunday, April 26th, 2020 at 3:33 a.m., Andrea Portillo, 22, was killed during an hit and run car accident in Charlotte, NC. Nona Teah, 26, has been charged with Andrea's death.

A pedestrian identified as Andrea had been struck by a vehicle in the 6200 block of East W.T. Harris Boulevard. Officers arrived to find an unresponsive female lying on the roadway with injuries. The vehicle that had struck her failed to stop at the scene and fled the area. Medic responded and Andrea was pronounced deceased on scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed Andrea was in the roadway when she was struck by an unknown vehicle traveling southeast on East W.T. Harris Boulevard.

The vehicle debris collected at the scene suggested the vehicle was a silver Honda sedan with damage on the driver’s side front corner and a deflated front left tire.

Officers circulated the area and located a Honda with damage parked in the driveway of a residence on Lawyers Road.

Major Crash Detectives responded to this address and made contact with the owner, Nona. The vehicle was towed to the Law Enforcement Center Crime Scene Bay to be processed for evidence and the owner was transported to be interviewed by detectives.

At the conclusion of the interview, Nona was arrested and charged with Felony Hit and Run. She was evaluated for sobriety and no impairment is suspected. Excessive speed also does not appear to be a contributing factor.
