Four people have been sentenced in connection with a killing near Belcourt last spring.

Kim Greatwalker Zaste, 33, pleaded guilty to making false statements to a grand jury and was sentenced to 42 months in prison and three years of probation. Ron Counts, 53, was sentenced to 18 months in prison and a year of probation for concealing information in the case. The two are related to Daniel Greatwalker and Bobby Demery, who are charged with murdering 43-year-old Linus Wallette last April. His body was found in a wooded area on the reservation. Authorities say he had been stabbed and beaten with a pickax and hammer. Bobbie Jo Poitra, 24, pleaded guilty to making false statements in the case and was sentenced to 42 months in prison and two years of probation. Clifford Belgarde, 36, was given 18 months in prison and one year of probation for failing to provide information about the crime. A total of 11 people were charged in the case. Greatwalker and Demery are scheduled to go on trial April 23.
