Turtle Rock, Sacred Site for Okehockings Lenape

This image comes to us from Richard Whiteford, an environmental communications consultant in Pennsylvania. He writes:

“Do you know that the Okehockings, a tribe of the Lenape were the only Native Americans to receive a land grant directly from William Penn for a 500-acre parcel about three miles east of West Chester, Pennsylvania on Route 3? They worshiped the turtle and they wanted that land because of Turtle Rock where they worshiped.”
