This clip of Maria Tallchief dancing in 1954 with Frederick Franklin on an episode of “The Colgate Comedy Hour” hosted by Eddie Fisher is historic for a couple of reasons.
Not only was it the first network telecast from the Hollywood Bowl, it brought Tallchief back to where she debuted her dancing in public at the age of 15.
She had landed a lead role in one of Bronislava Nijinska’s ballets. Tallchief began studying with Nijinska when she was 12 at her studio in Beverly Hills.
