American Indian Leadership and Civic Engagement Liaison

This new Liaison position will work with a committed team at the Extension Center for Community Vitality to help communities choose and create their future. The objective for this Liaison position is to engage tribal leaders and economic development stakeholders to further Tribal Economic Development Partnerships and priorities.

This position will organize and facilitate opportunities to collaborate on economic development issues; coordinate, facilitate, co-design and deliver technical assistance to all tribes that request assistance; co-design a plan for civic engagement to enhance economic resiliency, and support other efforts that will expand inter-tribal work in economic development. This is a multi-year project that aims to set the stage for continued engagement.

Location and Travel

The office location for this position is flexible and will be discussed and determined during the interview process. This position requires travel across Minnesota and potentially to other states. Work will be primarily focused in the Twin Cities metro area and in the eleven (11) Sovereign Nations in MN.


· Worked or lived in an American Indian Community and have first hand knowledge and appreciation of indigenous values, practices and beliefs.

· A Bachelor’s degree in a field such as education, American Indian studies, psychology, communication, leadership, sociology, public policy, and 2 years of related experience or a combination of education and experience to equal 6 years.

· Successful applicant must provide his or her own means of transportation, maintain a driver’s license, carry legally required vehicle insurance, and have access to use of a cell phone.
