Extension Educator - American Indian Leadership and Civic Engagement
This new Extension Educator position will work with tribal leaders and economic development stakeholders to outline, implement and teach in areas that support key economic development goals in collaboration with Tribal Economic Development Partnerships and Tribal communities.
The Educator will partner with native nations to identify priority economic development issues and opportunities; coordinate, co-design and deliver economic development education and technical assistance to all tribes that request assistance; co-design a plan for civic engagement to enhance economic resiliency, and other efforts that will expand inter-tribal work in economic development. This is a multi-year project that aims to set the stage for continued engagement.
Location and Travel
The office location for this position is flexible and will be discussed and determined during the interview process. This position requires travel across Minnesota and potentially to other states. Work will be primarily focused in the Twin Cities metro area and in the eleven (11) Sovereign Nations in MN.
· Masters Degree at the time of appointment. Formal education should include coursework in leadership development or studies (personal and/or community); Indigenous studies, educational, counseling or clinical psychology; and/or in public or civic engagement, community studies, sociology, communication, community economics, adult learning or a closely related field.
· Worked or lived in an American Indian Community and have first hand knowledge and appreciation of indigenous values, practices and beliefs.
· Successful applicant must provide his or her own means of transportation, maintain their driver’s license, carry legally required vehicle insurance and have access to use of a cell phone.
