The W.K. Kellogg Foundation (WKKF), a leading philanthropic institution helping communities create the conditions children need to thrive, is seeking nominations and applications for five new Communications Officers and one Communications Manager. Reporting to the Vice President of Communications, the new Communications Officers and Manager will execute the foundation’s internal and external strategy with each Communications professional managing that strategy from a different location within the foundation’s network. Each new Communications professional will be a seasoned, skilled storyteller with the ability to craft content that engages audiences around the foundation’s identity, mission, programming, and impact. Through close collaboration with peers in Communications, as well as with staff from strategic services and programming, the Communications Officer will lead the strategic delivery of that content across multimedia platforms and in various formats. The new Officers and Manager will also track and assess the foundation’s messaging, both independently and as part of teams and work groups.
Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in journalism, public communication, fine arts, marketing, communications, or related field. Candidates for the Officer position should have at least eight years’ experience in communications with an agency, corporation, publication, or a nonprofit organization. Candidates for the Manager position should have at least five years’ experience. They will be committed to advancing social change and achieving racial equity, with particular interest in the foundation’s mission to create healthy communities for children and families; and the foundation’s new networked model that relies on agile, collaborative teams. Additionally, they will have demonstrated experience partnering with leadership to create content across mediums; the ability to analyze raw data and or technical information; the ability to translate it into accessible language for multiple audiences; and an in-depth understanding of current digital marketing technologies, industry trends, and audience engagement tactics. Success at a networked organization requires each team member to be highly-motivated, nimble, results-oriented, and adaptable. Ideal candidates will bring passion, maturity, creativity, and humility to the role of Communications Officer or Manager.
Candidates for the Mexico City role must be fluent in English and Spanish. For all roles, fluency in languages spoken in places where WKKF does programming, is a plus.
