How has the presence of tobacco in the Connecticut River Valley shaped this region's history? Beginning 2,500 years ago and continuing through the present, our permanent timeline exhibit provides cultural, historical, and geographical context to help answer this question.

New interpretation on the Algonkian tribal nations and their cultivation of Wuttammáuog, or Nicotiana rustica (tobacco) provided by Leah Hopkins (Narragansett). Exhibit design by Matt Bigos (Schaghticoke). Edited by Dr. Allison Horrocks. With special thanks to Tahnee Growingthunder (Kiowa/ Muscogee/ Seminole) and Jonathan Perry (Aquinnah Wampanoag).
