Megyn Kelly fired at NBC after cultural appropriation, blackface comments

On Friday, NBC announced that “Megyn Kelly Today” was out

Megyn Kelly, host of the TODAY show, has been fired from NBC. Kelly was let go after a social media explosion began after she had stated “I’m a little fired up over Halloween costumes this morning,” and “blackface is ok,” on Tuesday's program.

In the opening segment of that Tuesday morning’s show, Kelly, alongside three other panelists, — who have been criticized on social media as not containing a single person of color — fostered a discussion over race-based Halloween costumes. The comments made during the segment would eventually lead to the demise, and firing of Kelly.

Kelly spoke with a frustrated tone about how “the costume police” were making their way to college campuses, “No Native American costumes, No cowboys, You can’t even dress as a nun.” The crowd applauded, Jacob Soboroff, an MSNBC correspondent on the panel, also applauded.

Then Kelly dropped the bomb, when she asked, “What is racist?” She said “Blackface was ok” as a kid “as long as you were dressing up as a character.”

Wednesday morning, Kelly issued a public apology, and posted it to Twitter: “I’m Megyn Kelly and I want to begin with two words — I’m sorry.”

Later the former news anchor at Fox News from 2004 to 2017, who served with NBC News until 2018, severed ties with Creative Artists Agency and hired the talent litigation attorney Bryan Freedman.

As reported by the New York Times: On Thursday, NBC announced that “Megyn Kelly Today would be in reruns for the rest of the week." On Friday afternoon, the show was canceled.

Bill Carter, a media analyst for CNN, summed it succinctly in a Saturday morning article:

Some things don't go together: brussels sprouts and bubblegum; cats and canaries; Megyn Kelly and NBC News. In each of those cases the mismatched mix should be obvious, but somehow NBC missed the telltale signs of how off and off-putting the combination of Kelly's views, especially on race relations, would be with NBC's own, more conventional positions.

A spectacle to comedy of slapstick and aloofness of the Political Correct (PC) audiences and a "progressive" celebrity such as Kelley. Brings news meaning of Progressives Eating each others on National TV!
