Davids: happy about areas for collaboration with Trump, but disappointed with his continued half-truths, divisiveness

News Release

Office of Representative Sharice Davids (D-KS-03)

Rep. Sharice Davids (D-KS-03) offered the following statement on President Trump's State of the Union Address:

"While I was happy to hear the President mention areas we can work together and which I hope to work with him on, like rebuilding our country's infrastructure, addressing the skyrocketing costs of prescription drugs, and supporting more women in the workforce and I hope he follows through, I was disappointed to hear him continue to speak half truths and divide on issues of immigration and national security.

"And though the President mentioned pre-existing conditions briefly, he must follow up his words with actions and stop attacking the law that protects people who have them, like Danny Robeson from Prairie Village whose mom Laura was my guest. So far he has done the opposite and sabotaged the ACA at every turn. People from both parties must work together to make sure more people--not fewer--have access to affordable care.

"And one thing is certain: no matter what issues are being debated, our federal workers and contractors must never be used as bargaining chips to push partisan policies."
