Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino recently hosted its June community breakfast and presented a check for $6,190 to the Central Valley Chapter of Project Linus, a non-profit organization that provides love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteers.

Approximately 620 people attended the fundraising breakfast. A total of $3,095 was raised at the door and Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino and the Santa Rosa Rancheria Tribe matched the amount bringing the grand total of the donation to $6,190. Tachi Palace General Manager Willie Barrios was on hand to present the check to Betsy Champ, Project Linus Central Valley Chapter Coordinator.

"Almost everything that has happened in Kings County can be traced back to Tachi Palace. This includes blankets, materials, locations, events, recommendations of need, organizations to partner with, and financial donations. Project Linus in this area would not be what it is without Tachi Palace," said Champ. The people of the Valley are so generous and compassionate and truly make a difference, not only to the child who receives a blanket but also to the organizations that have them available.”

Champ went on to say that with winter around the corner, they we will be buying batting for quilts and lots of fleece to make blankets. With donations such as this one, Project Linus will be able to work with organizations looking for a service project that don't have the funds to purchase all of the supplies necessary. If they calculate the number of fleece blankets that could be made, using the low end of the cost per yard, they can make roughly 50 blankets per $1,000, making a difference in the lives of so many in need.

Tachi Palace is proud to be celebrating its 35th anniversary of giving back to the community. The next community breakfast will be held on Friday, July 27, and will benefit American Legion Post 100. Tachi Palace hosts a monthly community breakfast that features a breakfast buffet, informative community news and business networking, as well as raffle prizes. Attendees are encouraged to make a minimum donation of $5 and all contributions benefit a featured organization. For more information, visit tachipalace.com.
