Car Bursts into Flames on Major Charlotte Interstate

A car caught fire on I-77 in Charlotte, North Carolina, Sunday Evening.

On Sunday May 19, 2019 at approximately 7:00 p.m., Charlotte Fire Department and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to a reported vehicle fire on Interstate 77. When the first fire unit arrived, firefighters encountered a 4-door sedan with a fire growing from the engine compartment. The vehicle was off to the right shoulder prior to Exit 3. All occupants of the vehicle escaped uninjured before the vehicle was consumed in fire. Firefighters quickly attacked the flames preventing further damage to the rest of the vehicle.
