Lightning Hits House Sparking Fire After Severe Weather Moves Through Charlotte

A large home was struck by lightning Saturday night following severe weather that moved through the Charlotte area.

A house was damaged Saturday night May 4, 2019 after it was struck by lightning. The 911 call from 5101 Bellicourt Drive in Charlotte was received around 9:55p.m. Severe storms with strong lightning and hail moved from the south Charlotte area earlier in the evening. Charlotte Fire Department responded to the large 2 story home after the homeowner reported a burning smell inside the home. Firefighters discovered a small fire in the attic of the home which was quickly extinguished. No one was injured as a result of the fire. The Charlotte Fire Investigation Task Force is investigating the fire.
