Long Island Man Seriously Injured And Airlifted To Hospital After Overturn Crash

A 20-year old Centereach, New York man was seriously injured after his vehicle was hit head-on after crash on Nicolls Rd

Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that critically injured a man in Holbrook on Thursday July 25, 2019.

Frank Maggio was driving a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer northbound on Nicolls Road when he lost control of the vehicle while changing lanes at approximately 8:40 p.m. The Mitsubishi overturned and crossed the center median where it was struck by a southbound 2007 Nissan Murano.

Maggio, 20, of Centereach was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition. The driver of the Nissan, Amanda Recchia, 24, of Patchogue and her passenger, Dan Fey, 25, of Miller Place, were transported via ambulance to Stony Brook University Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
