Reported Explosions Lead Police to Search Pineville Home of Known Arson Suspect

Home where person was charged with arson and possession of weapons of mass destruction searched for 2nd time in 3 months

Pineville Police Department were called to a home on Cone Avenue in Pineville, North Carolina, Saturday afternoon after 911 calls reported loud explosions in a backyard. The home in question on the 800 block of Cone Avenue has been at the center of an arson investigation since January. On January 17, 2019 multiple law enforcement agencies served a search warrant at the same address after the homeowner was arrested for arson of a local Charlotte art studio. Pineville Police Department search the property on Cone Avenue extensively. The bomb squad from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department was called to assist in a deeper search of the property. Law enforcement officials confirm nothing to connect a reported explosion or any criminal activity was found. No injuries were reported and no arrests were made. Court records show the homeowner, Jonathan Nance, has been arrested ten times since February 2018. Four of the arrests involve injury to Real Property, First Degree Arson, malicious damage of occupied property by use of explosive or incendiary device, and possession of weapon of mass destruction.
