Rider Suffers Head Injury After Thrown From Horse

A horseback rider was thrown from a horse at local Charlotte Equestrian Park Sunday Afternoon.

On Sunday, November 3, 2019, at 3:22 p.m., Mecklenburg EMS Agency (MEDIC) & Pineville Fire Department responded to an equestrian accident at 12300 Downs Road in Pineville, North Carolina. A 911 call reported a person was riding a horse at My Farm Camps Experience when they knocked off the horse. Sources say after the fall, the victim was then reportedly knocked unconscious after being kicked by the animal.

The accident happened in a remote trail on the property. Due to the rough terrain on the trail and distance to the victim, paramedics and firefighters were unable to access the incident with emergency vehicles. Firefighters had to use a heavy duty "Stokes" Rescue basket to extract the victim.

Firefighters had to carry the victim from the trail to the main horse farm property. Paramedics transported the injured victim to Atrium Health CMC Trauma Center with what are being considered non-life-threatening injuries.

According to My Farm Camps Experience website, the 21 acre property is home to birthday parties, summer camps, and Horseback and Trail Riding Lessons for adults and kids.
