Los Angeles: Two persons, one man and one woman, were killed this morning on the 110 Northbound just south of the 9th Street exit in a three-vehicle traffic collision. A black SUV, and two light colored sedans were involved in the collision which occurred early Tuesday, Mar. 30, 2021, at approximately 1:57 a.m. Three victims in the SUV, one female passenger (serious but stable), one male driver (extricated critical), and one female child around 4-5 years old (minor injuries) were transported in varying conditions to a local area hospital. The solo driver of a white sedan involved was uninjured and not transported against medical advice. California Highway Patrol Central Division is handling the investigation. Los Angeles Fire Department responded to extricate the trapped victim, and transport the surviving victims. Two were pronounced dead at scene. LA County Coroner responded to the location.

According to Sergeant Jeff Lane with the California Highway Patrol Central Los Angeles area office, the Lexus SUV had been traveling southbound wrong way in the northbound traffic lanes. The SUV collided head-on with a vehicle traveling northbound on the 110 freeway. Subsequently, after the collision, a vehicle was traveling northbound and collided into the vehicle that was already stopped in the #5 lane. Alcohol is suspected as a factor in the collision.
