LAFD Rescues Victim Stranded in LA River
Atwater Village, CA: At 2:39 p.m., LAFD Swift Water Rescue unit on routine patrol in the L.A. River near Los Feliz Boulevard, discovered a 40-year-old male stranded about 25 feet from the west shore. The victim was submerged in two foot deep flood waters moving at speeds of seven mph. LAFD ground and air response rescued the man around 3:18 p.m. The man declined ambulance transport to the hospital against medical advice. The man's reasoning for being in the river has yet to be determined.
