Single Vehicle Crash Shuts Down Vineland in Both Directions, Passenger Injured


Vehicle crashes into airport boundary fence during rainy weather injuring passenger.

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Fire Department and LAPD Traffic Division responded to a call of a car crash around 9:44 p.m., Thursday, on the 7200 block of N Vineland Avenue in the Sun Valley area of the San Fernando Valley.

The driver of a black Corvette lost control and crashed into a fence along the western boundary of the Hollywood Burbank Airport causing damage. Two people were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Vineland was shut down in both directions from Sherman Way to Vanowen as a result of the accident.

LAFD transported one seriously injured male passenger to a local hospital, and an officer was seen issuing Field Sobriety Tests - also referred to as Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFST) - to the male driver, who was also transported to the hospital, but not admitted. Passenger remains hospitalized.


DUI was not a factor in the accident. Cause of accident is still under investigation. Story will be updated as further information becomes available.
